Swagbucks: Internet boredom cure with benefits; Scam?
I LOVE this site! I like the surveys, easy to play internet games, coupons, and special offers. If I am wasting time on the internet while watching television, I might as well get points for it that will later get me gift cards (and much more!). Free money! I've only been a member since February 8, 2013, and I already have enough points for a $15 Amazon gift card, and have been seriously considering using 500 points for a Starbucks e-Gift card, because due to Swagbucks, I know Starbucks has a promotion right now requiring registration of a gift card- and they give you a $5 credit! So, essentially, I can get a $10 credit for 500 points. Not a bad idea, right? (Note: Swagbucks gives you a code to load onto a gift card, so you have to have one to start, Starbucks minimum denomination: $5. I'll buy the card, and then get my money back, +$5.)
I like being rewarded for the time I waste on the internet. Period.
I use it as my main search for the points, and you can always find what you are looking for, but Google is obviously a better search engine. You don't get points for gift cards to Ebay, Amazon, Starbucks, CVS, Target, ect. for using Google though!
My best advice: use an old email address that you have access to, or sign up with mail.com and create a new one.
Earning points with special offers requires signing up with different things (coupon emails, newsletters with deals, become a member of Company A, B, or C and receive emails with current promotions...) I don't mind going through the emails to find things I am interested in, have access to TONS OF COUPONS, and you can always unsubscribe with the links on the bottom of the email.
Also, you get swagbucks for shopping on almost any website! I bought a memory foam mattress topper for my bed off overstock.com, and ended up with over 700 SB! (Enough for a $5 gift card + on a product I was buying anyway.) If you shop online a lot, you should sign up just for the bonuses of shopping points.

6 Products to Love
Tea Tree Oil:
Yeah, it smells strong. Kind of like the patchouli smell of your favorite hippie friend mixed with Pinesol. But it works. My skin has been clearer in an amazingly short amount of time. Ohio's lovely warm to cold to freezing to warm again weather has wreaked havoc on my skin, along with a little stress, and it's been quite a disaster. Tea tree oil has been amazing. A very small amount goes a long way. I wash my face first, and the tea tree oil ALWAYS picks up extra dirt on the cotton ball that the cleanser didn't. Makes me wonder how much dirt I've been missing all these years...

Witch Hazel:
I put it on top of the tea tree oil, which stings a little bit, but always makes my skin feel clean and tighter. It's also been helping to clear my skin. I'm usually not one of those people that use all natural products. When recently taking a survey, the statement was, "I always try to use natural products," and I clicked Strongly Disagree. So if you think the natural thing is just weird, just try it. It might work.

*Update: I started using the Witch Hazel daily, and use the Tea Tree on top every few days. It worked even better!
Dry Shampoo:
Another weird product that works. It goes on like the cheap hair color spray that everyone used at football games in high school or on Halloween to have Orange hair. It kind of goes on like white spray paint, even though it's powder in an aerosol can. Spray on, brush out (carefully, so it all disappears), and your hair looks clean. My best friend asked me if it actually works. I told her I use it pretty often when I don't feel like showering so I look clean, but I wouldn't try to do my hair for a night out and wear my hair down. The explanation seemed to work.

Nail Hardener:
I've chewed my nails my entire life. I had real nails for my friend Erika's wedding, and started chewing them again shortly after. Somehow, around age 25, I accidentally grew out one nail, and then managed to grow out the rest. My nails rip, chip, bend, and are extremely soft. Then, I found Quimica Alemana Nail Hardener. It's clear nail polish that makes your nails crazy strong. I have to stop using it sometimes because they get TOO hard. It's an amazing product. The downside? It contains Formaldehyde, which is known to cause cancer. The FDA has put a pretty tight restriction on the amount allowed in the nail polish (less than 5% formaldehyde), but obviously, it's a choice to make. Other downside? If you just got acrylics taken off, it will burn the skin under your nail. So follow the directions, use wisely, and make sure you get the real stuff (there are tons of knock offs).

Moisturizer:
People always talk about how important moisturizer is. I've always thought putting moisturizer on oily skin seemed like an oxy moron. Simple Light Hydrating moisturizer has been awesome. It is all natural, coincidentally, but it works great. Doesn't feel oily, goes on light, and moisturizes without causing extra breakouts. There is also a Simple Hydrating Moisturizer for people that do have dry skin and need the extra, uh, moisture. Some form of the word moist is in every sentence in this paragraph, and I do not know how to fix it.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Detoxifying Pore Scrub Cleanse:
I made "5 Products to Love", and was already using this face wash, but I limited myself to 5. I love/use this product every day and at age 26, I do not need anti-aging products yet, but it tightens my skin and minimizes pores. It doesn't dry my combination skin out, controls breakouts with salicylic acid, and the beads scrub away dead skin. A 5 star product, and relatively inexpensive. It's often buy 1 get 1 50% off at CVS- add some Extra Bucks and it's a good deal, or keep an eye out for specials at your favorite place to shop. It's a P&G product, so there many different promotions. (Sidenote: never buy a P&G product at full price. Find coupons, or wait until it's on sale!)

Minimizing Pores for Clearer Skin
In a perfect world, we could all go to a Dermatologist for our skin problems, who would tell us to drink more water, eat healthy, reduce stress, and some skin-related tips from an expert. And while stress cannot be taken out of our lives completely, a counselor could help with ways to cope with the stress that exists. But who has the time and money for that?
The easiest ways to improve life: exercise, drink water, eat well, take a multivitamin...
But the world is not perfect. I am not a Dermatologist, and I cannot provide the cure-all skin care that will rid the world of acne.
Recently, I decided that I will try to drink more water, take the steps instead of the elevator, and eat at least one vegetable a day. Start small so it will last. Do the little things that will eventually become habit. What I really want to do is have clear skin, smaller pores, and no blackheads. So this project started with a simple Google search: "How to minimize pores". I came across many websites, threads, and how-to columns.

Other than Burt's Bee's Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub at $8, everything else on the 10 slide article at refinery29.com is $30+ a product, up to $75. I am all about spending some money to have great skin, but buying a cleanser, exfoliator, toner, moisturizer, and good make-up for $30 each is a bit much to experiment on new products. Everything I have tried has been $12 or under!

This was my favorite thread I came across while furthering my Google search to "products to minimize pores". It has links to two other threads and offers products, recipes for masks, and more.
I wash my face with a Sirius Beauty Sonic Skincare System (Oscillating Brush) that I bought off Groupon awhile back, but there are many brands of these available. Almost immediately, my skin felt tighter and clean. I use it daily with whatever cleanser I am using, and use an exfoliator once a week.
My first plan of attack: Olay Regenerist detoxifying pore scrub($10) and Witch Hazel as toner ($4). Witch hazel cleans and tightens skin for smaller pores. After using it for a couple days, the witch hazel dried my skin and I realized it would be important to have a good moisturizer. I bought Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer ($12) and really like it, but I'm sure there are other great ones out there. It's all natural and doesn't leave skin oily. I've also read that moisturizers for anti-aging have ingredients in them that will smooth your skin and make your pores appear smaller.
Cleaning your skin regularly and figuring out what works best with your specific skin type is a process but it starts with a good cleanser. The witch hazel is working great now that I added a moisturizer. I really wanted a spot treatment for pimples that still popped up, so I bought Clean & Clear spot treatment that is a salicylic acid paste. It's not my favorite because it goes on white and is supposed to clear as it dries, but it doesn't. I found out if I put it on under my moisturizer it becomes clear. I used to simply wash my make-up off before bed, but starting a routine was actually easier than I thought it would be.
Pores can't become smaller but they can look smaller. My current attempts at having clear skin has been working, my pores aren't as visible and my skin is clearing up. The best way to start is to just wash your face and add what is working and take away what is not. You can't have better skin unless you try. Below is a summary of what I am currently using and I will continue with updates or improvements as I find them. I'll also do a later post about make-up and the products I have tried to control red skin, along with a few tips and techniques to have a better day.

My first plan of attack: Olay Regenerist detoxifying pore scrub($10) and Witch Hazel as toner ($4). Witch hazel cleans and tightens skin for smaller pores. After using it for a couple days, the witch hazel dried my skin and I realized it would be important to have a good moisturizer. I bought Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer ($12) and really like it, but I'm sure there are other great ones out there. It's all natural and doesn't leave skin oily. I've also read that moisturizers for anti-aging have ingredients in them that will smooth your skin and make your pores appear smaller.
Cleaning your skin regularly and figuring out what works best with your specific skin type is a process but it starts with a good cleanser. The witch hazel is working great now that I added a moisturizer. I really wanted a spot treatment for pimples that still popped up, so I bought Clean & Clear spot treatment that is a salicylic acid paste. It's not my favorite because it goes on white and is supposed to clear as it dries, but it doesn't. I found out if I put it on under my moisturizer it becomes clear. I used to simply wash my make-up off before bed, but starting a routine was actually easier than I thought it would be.
Pores can't become smaller but they can look smaller. My current attempts at having clear skin has been working, my pores aren't as visible and my skin is clearing up. The best way to start is to just wash your face and add what is working and take away what is not. You can't have better skin unless you try. Below is a summary of what I am currently using and I will continue with updates or improvements as I find them. I'll also do a later post about make-up and the products I have tried to control red skin, along with a few tips and techniques to have a better day.
