Want ideas for DIY crafts made with things you already have like paper, magazines, and glue? This has become my latest hobby.
Paper has been a favorite medium of mine for a few years now, starting with this:
I used an old canvas that had a failed project on it. I used watered down Elmer's Glue to cover the background with shredded paper, piece by piece. (This was SUPER time consuming, but painting glue onto the canvas and throwing paper on it didn't work.) I then dyed paper dots (from hole punching binders at work) with coffee, tea, and wine for different colors, and glued each dot. My father built the frame for me.
I made gifts for my nieces, still stuck on the paper theme.
The next paper project I had my heart set on was using rolled up magazine strips to make a picture frame or frame a mirror. Unfortunately, there is a bag of rolled magazines and only one simple project came of it (so far!):
... but I will admit it looks good on my mantle!
I have a Pinterest board specifically for paper projects and have tons of plans and many of the supplies to do some of these things. The most important thing is to have fun! For more ideas, follow my board here:

UPDATE: Since I posted this, I've really gotten into magazine beads. I've finished multiple bracelets and am working on completing a 6x1 mirror, framed completely with beads. The beads are definitely more user friendly than the coils.
